First United Methodist Church of Bastrop offers a variety of musical outlets for its members and supports musical activities that are an outreach to the Bastrop community.

Spiritual as well as musical growth in presentation of varied types of music, is encouraged for all participants.

Groups within the church include the Chancel Choir which presents music for worship at the 11:00 AM service and additional holidays.  The “Good News Ringers” bell choir  rings for both 8:30 and 11:00 AM  Traditional services every five to six weeks.  This group, with various personnel changes was originally organized in 1985, ring four octaves of handbells and three octaves of hand chimes.  We also have a Men’s Ensemble which sings at various times throughout the year, performs at the annual Boys and Girls Club Christmas Gala and has sung as guests in other churches. Our 9:45 Sunday service is held in the Fellowship Hall and is a blended service, using old time hymns as well as newer music.  Our praise band, composed of members of our congregation provides music for this service.
