The Methodist Men meet the second Saturday of each month in the Fellowship Hall of the church at 7:30 AM for breakfast, fellowship, and prayer. During the year we have volunteered for various projects for the Trustees in repairing and expanding the infrastructure of the church property. This past year the projects included clearing the brush and fences behind one of the church buildings to make room for expanded church parking in the alley, repairing the sprinkler system for the lawn, and repairing broken and missing windows in the Bell Tower.
A few years ago, the group dealt with managing transportation for a paraplegic member of the church to University Classes in Austin. Even with a specially modified vehicle for him and his wheelchair, he needed help getting prepared to manage his own driving, so we helped him through the transitional period. The group also serves on call to help manage setting up facilities in the Fellowship Hall for large meetings and conferences for various church groups and committees. During the year the group supplied and prepared food for groups including the Vacation Bible School. It has also served as an inspiration to members to encourage them to participate in Walks to Emmaus. Members have also served on the boards of Emmaus and have worked on the staff of some of the walks.
Programs have included such topics as help for the UMArmy during their summer mission project in Bastrop, and helping with Local Mission projects through the Missions Committee of the church.
