COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
The communications committee is responsible for some of the information distribution associated with the church. This includes aspects such as the church web site, brochures, and other information that may be of use to church members or visitors.
The web site is in the process of refinement but our goal is to have timely information on general church events and information. The site is also in the process of development individual web pages for each functional area in the church.
One upcoming activities is to prepare postcard mailings to the many families moving to the Bastrop area inviting them to come to FUMC.
Another activity will be to produce a member directory with pictures of members or families. This can be very useful for members. A further improvement is to not use a commercial photographer to take the pictures but to use a member, Terry Hines, to take the pictures. One advantage of that is that, unlike a commercial photographer, Terry has no profit motive in selling pictures to members. Also the digital picture files will be provided to individual members (for printing or other use) and commercial photographer copyrights are not an issue. It is planned to start this process in September and offer the picture taking sessions between church services. This also allows members to have their pictures for things like Christmas cards.
